Grey Bruce Labour Council Social Justice Awards, In Memory of Robert White

With May 1st being International Workers’ Day, it is appropriate to announce today that the Grey Bruce Labour Council is accepting applications for the 2024 Social Justice Scholarship award, in memory of Robert White. This award is named after Robert White, Past President of CAW and Canadian Labour Congress. Available annually to graduating secondary school students in the Grey Bruce area, The Grey Bruce Labour Council sponsors this award and has done so for over 30 years.

Up to 5 students may share in the $1500 annual award. Applications are accepted in May each year with a deadline this year of June 3rd, 2024. In order to qualify the students must demonstrate involvement in the promotion of activities that promote the values of social justice in the betterment of their community.

The manner of presentation is the student’s choice. A description of the student’s social justice work on issues such as (but not limited to) women’s issues, labour activism, native issues, the environment and Third World development is also required. This could take the form of an essay, multi-media, video, slide deck, etc. An application form is also required.
